When I called to enquire why I was told this was the policy. This perfectly understandable I was charged the same day as I booked the room. I understood that I would be allowed to pay the charges in Canadian funds upon arrival, if I did not show up the card would be charged in US funds.
This is fully understandable and is a practice used by all hotels. I will add that I have used this hotel under this policy previously with no problem I made the reservation, read the terms and conditions which clearly states that a credit card will be necessary for a guarantee of the room, if the reservation was not cancelled by 48 hours prior to the stay, it would be charged. I am a Canadian resident and was taking advantage of the hotels promotions policy to pay Canadian funds on this date.
